KANO MIYU’s Voice Beyond the Final Broadcast — LOVE FM’s Kanou SAY

Her own introduction to her first photo album, Akiramenaide., the stories behind Kuroi Shinzou and Re:load, and a new YouTube project
On the final episode of her LOVE FM radio program, broadcast on June 14, 2026, KANO MIYU used Kanou SAY (Kanou no Kanousei) to announce the program’s conclusion and talk about her recent music activities and new projects. The unexpected news that this was the final broadcast came at the very beginning, leaving a sense of disappointment. Nevertheless, MIYU said that although the radio show was ending, her activities would continue, and that she would keep meeting fans regularly through live performances and social media.
The broadcast covered a wide range of subjects, including how Kuroi Shinzou and Re:Road, tracks on her first photo album Akiramenaide., came into being; how she resumed songwriting after the COVID-19 pandemic; her newly launched YouTube project, KanoMiyuTube; and her plans for future activities in Fukuoka. Where earlier episodes had focused on conversations with guests or stories behind performances, this final broadcast had a more retrospective character, looking back on her musical journey and letting her describe her future direction herself.
An unexpected final broadcast: ‘I only heard the news suddenly myself’
The broadcast began with a greeting just like any other. KANO MIYU warmly welcomed listeners, thanking them for sharing this time with her again, and began her program, Kanou SAY. As soon as the opening ended, however, she introduced some unexpected news, saying she had something a little surprising to share.
She announced personally that this would be the final broadcast of Kanou SAY, and candidly admitted that she, too, had heard the news suddenly and had been very surprised. Her tone was relatively composed, but it also conveyed her regret that the program was ending sooner than expected.
MIYU immediately reassured fans, however, saying, ‘It’s only the radio show that’s ending, not me.’ She asked them to come to her shows, since they would still be able to see her on social media and at live performances. She added that she hoped even listeners discovering her for the first time through this broadcast would meet her again through her future activities.
Although its run was short, Kanou SAY had served as a channel through which KANO MIYU personally introduced her music and recent news and communicated with fans on the second Sunday of every month. The final episode likewise began in an atmosphere that emphasized anticipation for her future activities rather than sadness at the ending.
A singer-songwriter’s journey that began in Fukuoka: ‘I’ll be back often this summer, too’
The self-introduction that had been part of the program since its first broadcast returned once more in the final episode. KANO MIYU explained that she was from Omuta, Fukuoka Prefecture, had moved to Tokyo at eighteen to begin pursuing music in earnest, and had started learning guitar at ten. She now had approximately fifty original songs. It was another introduction for listeners to her identity as a singer-songwriter who had steadily created songs since childhood.
She also said her work in Korea had begun after appearing on the 2023 Korea–Japan audition project Trot Girls Japan, and that she now traveled between Japan and Korea while pursuing both sis and solo activities. Noting in particular that LOVE FM was a Fukuoka station, she said she expected to have many reasons to visit Fukuoka that summer. If any listeners had first discovered her through the radio, she hoped to meet them in person at a show someday, expressing her anticipation of new encounters with local fans.
Her first photo album, Akiramenaide.: Kuroi Shinzou as the opening selection
The first song introduced that day was Kuroi Shinzou, from her first photo album, Akiramenaide. KANO MIYU said the album was now also available through music streaming services and encouraged listeners to give it their attention. She then explained herself why she had chosen Kuroi Shinzou as the first selection.
She said that many people thought of the song as a love song, but that for her it went beyond a simple romantic story. The title often prompted questions about why she had given it that name. In fact, she explained, the song also contained the worries she experienced in life, her own life itself, and the path she would take from here.
She therefore hoped people would listen while reading the lyrics, rather than simply listening to the melody. In contrast to the forceful image suggested by the title, she explained, the song held feelings that quietly expressed her inner self.

‘I wrote a song again after five years, following COVID’: how Re:Road changed her musical life
After the song, she continued with the story of how Kuroi Shinzou had come into being. KANO MIYU recalled that although she had written songs steadily since she was ten, she had spent a long period during the COVID-19 pandemic barely writing any new material. Various worries had accumulated at the time, temporarily halting her feelings toward music and leaving her in a prolonged struggle with herself.
The first song she completed after that period was Re:Road. She explained that it was the first song she had finished all the way through in around five years, and a special work that had prompted her to begin making music again.
She went on to reveal that Kuroi Shinzou was the song she released after Re:Road. Making these two works, she said, had reminded her that she was ultimately someone who wanted to keep writing songs. As ordinary life gradually returned after the pandemic, she, too, confirmed her desire to live as a singer-songwriter again, and those feelings naturally found their way into the two songs.
Her decision to introduce Kuroi Shinzou again on this broadcast was connected to that significance. By speaking first about her own music in a final episode looking back on her recent activities, she also showed that songs remained at the most important center of her work.
The newly launched KanoMiyuTube: a travel project made together with fans
Before moving into the latter part of the show, she also introduced a new YouTube project she had recently begun. KANO MIYU said she had already been running a YouTube channel, but it had always bothered her that while subscriber numbers continued to grow, she had not been uploading videos frequently. For about two years she had talked about wanting to make proper content someday. Recently, staff members to work alongside her had come together, finally allowing the project to begin.
She said the new KanoMiyuTube project was scheduled to release a video every other Friday. The first video followed her visit to Anamori Inari Shrine near Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, and she planned to keep visiting different places herself to share travel and everyday life.
She also asked fans to leave comments recommending where they would like her to go next. It was a glimpse of a change in KANO MIYU’s approach, as she sought new ways to communicate with fans through travel and vlog content as well as her music activities.
Connections stretching back to her Fukuoka days: support from longtime fans
In the middle of the broadcast, she took time to introduce messages sent by listeners herself. KANO MIYU read the messages that had arrived through the radio and social media one by one, expressing gratitude to fans who had followed her activities for many years.
The first message came from a listener who said they had changed their nickname from Kazuko to Johin Kazuko, meaning ‘elegant Kazuko.’ The listener introduced themselves as someone who had followed her since another local radio program she appeared on before moving to Tokyo, traveling from Omuta to central Fukuoka every month. They said they were delighted to watch her current success, much as one might watch a relative’s child grow up, and promised to keep supporting her.
MIYU could not hide her surprise at this unexpected, longstanding connection. If the listener had heard that radio show, she said, they really had known her for a very long time. She was very happy and grateful that a fan who had supported her since high school was still listening to her broadcasts. She added that she hoped they could meet at a show and greet one another in person someday.
The moment meant more than a brief introduction to a listener’s message. The fact that fans who had watched KANO MIYU since her early days in Fukuoka remained by her side also showed the continuity of the time she had spent walking her path as a singer-songwriter.
‘A radio show we wished would continue’: a listener’s regret
The next message also expressed regret about the program itself coming to an end. One listener said they wished she would keep broadcasting every month, and hoped she would continue inviting close colleagues, respected senior artists, and singers she had worked with to share a variety of stories.
MIYU replied with a laugh that it was a shame this was the final broadcast. Although Kanou SAY was ending, she asked listeners to return if she ever did radio again in another form.
The program had in fact run for the relatively short span of six episodes, but had established itself as a space where she personally introduced her music, daily life, activities in Korea, and messages from fans. Even in the final episode, listeners showed their affection for the program by expressing a wish for it to continue, rather than simply dwelling on the fact that it was ending.
An unexpected connection with comedian Junichi Komoto: ‘It began with a TikTok LIVE comment’
The longest story in the broadcast concerned Junichi Komoto, a member of the Japanese comedy duo Jicho Kacho. When a listener’s message led to a discussion of industry acquaintances she was close to, KANO MIYU recalled Komoto, with whom she had recently appeared on a program. She explained that their connection had begun unexpectedly on TikTok LIVE.
While she was livestreaming alone from a studio, an account named Komoto had left a supportive comment. Reading comments on the small screen, however, she had not realized at all that the account belonged to the famous comedian Junichi Komoto. She recalled giving only a casual greeting along the lines of ‘Thank you, Mr. Komoto. Nice to meet you,’ and moving on.
She said she had only understood what had happened after the livestream, when fans told her that the person who had just commented was the real Junichi Komoto. She immediately sent him a direct message to introduce herself properly and apologize.
‘I thought someone had deliberately connected us’: meeting again on a show months later
What happened afterward was particularly interesting. KANO MIYU said that a few months after the TikTok LIVE incident, she discovered that the host of a program she was due to appear on was Junichi Komoto himself. Laughing as she recalled it, she said the coincidences overlapped to such an extent that she wondered whether someone had deliberately arranged the connection.
When she went over to greet him on the day of the show, she brought up TikTok LIVE first. Komoto reportedly told her that he had always watched her TikTok livestreams quietly, revealing that he had been a fan for a long time. MIYU recalled being even more surprised when he said he had always followed her like a hidden fan. She explained that the program had naturally led them to stay in touch, and that they still communicated regularly through social media comments and other exchanges.
‘Support from well-known people gives me a lot of strength’
KANO MIYU added that, besides Junichi Komoto, she had heard that Japanese television personality Akira Hokuto was also a fan. She said she felt truly grateful whenever she heard that well-known people were quietly supporting her activities. She often heard that she had more hidden fans than she might think, she added, and hoped to thank them personally if the opportunity arose.
Although the anecdote was told with laughter, it also illustrated where KANO MIYU stood after gradually expanding the scope of her work since her debut. The fact that not only ordinary fans but also television personalities working in the same industry were following her music and activities with interest offered a sense of her present position.
Her first visit to Okinawa: ‘I discovered a new landscape at Halekulani’
In the latter part of the broadcast, she also discussed her recent trip to Okinawa. KANO MIYU revealed that she had visited Okinawa for the first time on business after Golden Week. It was a schedule related to filming rather than a personal holiday, but because it was a place she had long wanted to visit, the experience was all the more memorable.
She spoke in particular about visiting Halekulani Okinawa, a resort in Onna, Okinawa. She had been told that the original hotel was in Hawaii, and expressed her admiration for scenery that proved even more beautiful than she had expected. Outside the resort, however, the surroundings were quieter than she had imagined, revealing another side of Okinawa beyond the one she had pictured. She also said she hoped to explore Naha herself next time.
She said Okinawa had struck her as a good place to take a short break from a busy daily life. If possible, she added, a schedule that allowed her to travel while working seemed the most ideal arrangement for the future, too.
‘The radio ends, but the songs go on’: TERMINAL as the final selection
As the broadcast drew to a close, KANO MIYU once again introduced her first photo album, Akiramenaide., and her future activities. She said she expected to have many engagements taking her to Fukuoka that summer, and asked fans not only to listen on the radio but also to come to a show and hear her songs in person.
She then offered her honest impressions: although she regretted the sudden arrival of the final broadcast, this had been the episode in which she had been able to speak most naturally of all six. The program was ending just as she was gradually getting used to radio, which left some sadness, but she did not forget to thank the listeners who had stayed with her until the end.
Her original song TERMINAL was introduced as the final selection. KANO MIYU explained that she had written it while thinking of Japan and Korea, and it brought the program to its close.
Taken as a whole, the final episode of LOVE FM’s Kanou SAY, broadcast on June 14, 2026, meant more than simply a program’s farewell. It began with the sudden announcement of the ending, but developed into a calm reflection on her present: how she had returned to songwriting, her new YouTube project, her connections with longtime fans, and the plans for her activities to come.
It was particularly striking that she repeated the message that her activities would continue even after the radio show ended, right through to the close of the broadcast. The program had drawn to an end, but KANO MIYU once again promised to continue meeting fans through new stages and music while traveling between Fukuoka, elsewhere in Japan, and Korea.
