Ayumi and KANO MIYU’s “Kazari ja Nai no yo Namida wa”: beyond a visible emotion

Karaoke song codes
Seeing tears does not disclose everything inside a person. The title “Kazari ja Nai no yo Namida wa” challenges a gaze that treats emotion as an attractive image. Its speaker refuses to let tears become merely something that shines.
Ayumi and KANO MIYU performed the song together on episode 24 of MBN’s Korea–Japan Top Ten Show, broadcast on November 5, 2024. Two singers take on Nakamori’s song. Considering a television duet’s cheerful presentation beside the title’s firm statement opens a productive tension.
The trap in seeing tears
On music television, tears readily become markers of emotional intensity. The fact of crying can prompt an immediate explanation of sincerity or feeling. This title interrupts that habit. Watching a tear shine is different from understanding why someone cries.
Yosui Inoue wrote the original words and music, sung by Akina Nakamori. Separating tears from ornament can also be heard as a request about how the speaker wishes to be seen: do not finish interpreting an emotion at its surface. She declines to hand her whole inner life to someone else’s reading.
The fragile place a firm sentence protects
Hearing only a declaration of strength misses another possibility. Distinguishing tears from decoration also asks that feelings be handled carefully. Firmness may arise from wanting a hurt to be taken seriously, rather than from an inability to be hurt.
The negative title does not abolish emotion; it asks for a different way of looking. That makes the character difficult to reduce to coldness or sadness. Wanting to reveal a feeling can coexist with resisting an easy interpretation.
One sentence entrusted to two singers
Ayumi and Miyu share the words of one speaker. Their duet need not become evidence of their private relationship or personal wounds. A song introduced under two names already makes a different encounter from its original recording.
Reconsidering the title can change how we watch television. A visible expression and a singer’s actual inner life need not be treated as identical. A stage presents expression without publishing an entire life. With a strong sign such as tears, preserving that distance gives the character more room.
The cover renews an uncompromising sentence about tears. Appearing beautiful does not finish explaining a feeling. Ayumi and Miyu move an older song into a present broadcast and offer that sentence again.
