Trot Girls Japan and KANO MIYU: Odaiba’s Midsummer Stage
DATE2024.08.05

Being chosen for Fuji TV’s center of summer

“Hot” does not fully describe Odaiba’s summer. Sun adheres to asphalt and sea wind hits warmly. Fuji TV’s large event has long acted as a seasonal center, mixing performance, experiences and media exposure on a broadcaster-built platform. Which teams are invited and which faces recur become indicators of that summer’s attention and flow.

That stage welcomed eleven Trot Girls Japan participants, including seven Japanese members of the Korea–Japan Top Ten Show. This symbolizes a Korean-made story returning to Japan and functioning within a summer lineup. From August 5–10, 2024, members rotated through Fuji TV headquarters and Odaiba/Aomi; on the 24th they gathered at the 4,500-seat Island Stadium. Beyond one guest appearance, this was a partnership working through the summer period, giving the participation greater weight.

Heat and the proof of a live stage

Odaiba is an artificial Tokyo island. The sea suggests coolness, but summer feels especially hot, making an event a struggle with heat for audiences and performers. Ironically, that reveals real stage stamina: not studio-edited performance but faces and breathing that must persuade people in person remain directly visible.

The team did not avoid these conditions. Rotating combinations had to maintain performance temperature. MIYU’s role was relatively clear: repeatedly appearing on important dates rather than showing her face once, she occupied a position updating the story through songs and units.

“Thirty minutes after the show, another stage”: official YouTube live

A particularly interesting detail followed the shows. On each August 5–10 date, the official YouTube channel held an approximately thirty-minute livestream. Beyond service, this shows a schedule considering Korean fans. Performance happened in Japan while resonance and feedback expanded immediately online. The day did not end onsite; connection continued the emotional curve.

This fitted fandom formed after Korea–Japan King of Singers and Korea–Japan Top Ten Show. Korean fans value sharing the same day’s atmosphere even when unable to attend, and production understood it. Odaiba became a stage observed simultaneously by both fandoms rather than only a Japanese summer event.

MIYU’s timeline: solo, units and announcements

Her appearances were August 5, 7, 10 and 24. Selected dates themselves communicate: they marked changing songs, units foregrounded and news announced, narrative knots beyond routine rotation.

Monday, August 5: she joined RIE UTAGOKORO, natsuco and MIRAI FUKUDA in a relatively established combination and performed “Over Drive.” It directly connects with her clear energy. A song instantly revealing vocal tone without explanation was an impressive first-day choice, designed to narrow distance from audiences perhaps meeting her for the first time.

Wednesday, August 7: the most eventful date. With MAKOTO., AI ASAHI and RIHOKO TARA she performed “Watashi ga Obasan ni Natte mo.” Above all, a teased social-media surprise became real: those four announced the formation and autumn debut of sis (SIS/T), then sang “Vacation” together. Odaiba’s media space suited revealing a project, not just performing: announcements became articles, stages became video and fans remembered the day’s air.

Saturday, August 10: the unit narrative came forward. Appearing with AI ASAHI, KIM SOHEE, AIKO SUMIDA and MIRAI FUKUDA, MIYU performed with KIM SOHEE as Atlantis Kitsune. Their selections were “Eomeona!” and “Cutie Honey”. Korean trot symbolism met an immediately recognizable Japanese cultural code. More than covering songs, it showed their characters crossing. Audiences understood through music how they would move before hearing explanations.

Finally, Saturday, August 24, the all-member Island Stadium performance was the peak. 4,500 seats created a distinct density. After accumulated rotations, it felt like declaring that everyone stood here together. MIYU sang “Sakuranbo” with AIKO, followed by Atlantis Kitsune’s “Eomeona” and sis (SIS/T)’s “Love’s Battery,” binding each unit’s color. Solo expanded into units and reconverged into everyone, securing narrative completeness often missed by summer events.

Odaiba as a middle, not an end: Korean response reaching Japan’s summer

More than glamour, what matters is where the stage came from. The team’s present relates to strong response formed on Korean programs. Recognition there became a reason for inclusion on a large Japanese stage. Beyond one issue, it signals exchange beginning a circulating structure.

At its center MIYU does not appear identically each time: solo, unit member or announcement’s focus. The days form a timeline of her name’s expansion, not just attendance. Completion in the heat required more than stamina: confidence that this current would lead to another scene made it possible.

Odaiba’s summer is short, but its record lasts. How her name will be called within it next now naturally invites anticipation.
