KANO MIYU as Aiberry: A Guitar-Led Story in Chika Idol no Houteishiki

Aiberry, the character KANO MIYU plays in Chika Idol no Houteishiki, does not begin as a singer onstage. One strand of the story follows a live-house worker who picks up a guitar and begins making music with others. For Miyu, who has sung while playing guitar, the role offers a chance to bring her experience with an instrument into acting.
Scheduled to release all 30 episodes on DMM Short at noon on December 23, 2025, the series takes its inspiration from the three members of real-life music unit OVAL SISTEM. Tetsuya Komuro oversees the production and music and also appears onscreen. Focusing on Miyu’s role alongside Lily Franky, Oto Abe and Hiyori Katada, we look at where the drama meets actual musical activity.
From live-house staff member to guitarist
Aiberry’s starting point is karate. After an injury makes it difficult to continue her previous activities, she encounters the guitar while working at a live house. The premise moves someone who has watched the audience and stage at close range into the position of performer. Unlike a character who begins solely with a dream of becoming a singer, Aiberry is given time to stop once and then begin something different.
In an interview introducing the series, Miyu explained that playing guitar was familiar and that similarities between herself and the character made the role easier to approach. The casting connects specifically with her ability to use not only singing but also the posture of holding an instrument and the experience of playing in an ensemble. Before the release, these were the experiences she described as helping her settle into the role.

Miyu the actor and real-life member iBerry are different people
One distinction matters before watching. The inspiration for Miyu’s Aiberry is real-life OVAL SISTEM guitarist iBerry. The experience of joining a TM NETWORK recording after an encounter through social-media performance footage belongs to iBerry, not KANO MIYU. Both play guitar, but they should not be introduced as the same person.
OVAL SISTEM’s real members are AIKO SUMIDA, mochiluca and iBerry. In the drama, Oto Abe plays Aiko, Hiyori Katada plays Ruka and KANO MIYU plays Aiberry. Separating the story’s basis in a real unit from the actors’ own careers also clarifies the role Miyu is taking on beyond her work with sis.
A team formed by the three and Lily Franky
Lily Franky meets the three in the role of a musician. The released cast photograph brings Hiyori Katada, Oto Abe, KANO MIYU and Lily Franky together. Where the poster foregrounds the unit and its music, this image conveys the story’s structure: people with different starting points becoming one team.
Miyu’s introduction to the work similarly places its interest in meeting people through music and moving forward together. That is why the character’s relationships with her companions deserve attention alongside the shared experience of guitar playing. As Aiberry moves from live-house employee to someone who plays with others, how will the time spent listening to another person’s music connect with the time spent making her own sound? The question invites curiosity.

Hearing “Never Alone” and “I Surrender” in the drama
The music connects the series with “Never Alone” and “I Surrender,” written and composed by Tetsuya Komuro. For listeners who know the real OVAL SISTEM’s songs, another way into the drama is to see how music heard in concert meets its characters and situations.
For Miyu, this is an opportunity to translate her experience as a guitar-playing musician into an actor’s work. Readers who have followed her onstage with sis can compare the familiar performer with the newly assumed character of Aiberry. Keeping the real unit, the actors playing its fictional counterparts and the songs within the drama distinct makes those connections easier to follow accurately.
