The strengths and immediacy of a small venue

On November 6, 2024, Tokyo’s Shin-Okubo R’s Art Court hosted a solo birthday concert by emerging singer KANO MIYU. The approximately 150–200-seat venue offers almost no distance between audience and artist, allowing close shared timing. This helped communicate MIYU’s delicate expressions and gestures and joint performances with sis (SIS/T) directly.

Despite its size, the hall has modern sound equipment. Natural resonance and echo provide an environment suited to live listening, allowing the harmony of MIYU’s vocals, sis’s group singing and instruments to be realized fully.

Alongside local Japanese fans, approximately fifteen traveled from Korea to share her birthday concert across borders, adding international significance.

Concert structure and staging

The roughly ninety-minute show combined MIYU’s solo stage with sis collaborations. Early solo selections emphasized her personality and vocal ability. Signature songs included “OVER DRIVE” and “Password 486”, “Watashi ga Obasan ni Natte mo”, using varied registers and rhythms to highlight her range and sustain immersion.

The middle brought shared sis performances. “DANCING QUEEN”, “STAY WITH ME” were joined by the Japanese “Love’s Battery,” revealed here for the first time. Colorful choreography and harmonious voices stood out. Reinterpreting a song already popular in Korea in Japanese offered a musical feeling different from the original.

Ballads such as “Ruriiro no Chikyuu” closed the show with emotional resonance. Lighting and music maximized lyricism and helped sustain musical immersion.

Repertoire and stage details

Eleven songs balanced solo material and collaborations. Minimal, efficient transitions kept concentration intact and led naturally onward. Lighting, sound and props also contributed to the overall polish.

Atmosphere and audience response

The concert had a concentrated atmosphere characteristic of Japanese performances. Audiences moderated applause and reactions while immersing themselves, and connection arose naturally through musical expression and staging.
