In the same city, one person parts while another falls in love. Color Of City divides feelings into differently coloured singles. Kim Bum-soo’s “Taste of Parting” carries Blue; Taru’s “Yeppohalge” carries White. One place need not look the same colour to everyone living in it.

These are separate singles within a project, rather than contrasting tracks from one album. Taru’s official title also credits MC Hangil. Reading them together brings attention to Shim Hyun-bo’s connecting role and the positions from which their characters speak.

The person connecting the project

The supplied release introduction for White identifies Shim as overall producer and writer-composer of “Yeppohalge.” It links “Like You” and “Taste of Parting” as earlier works. This framework places independently performed songs under a shared name.

Separation and new love need not be compulsory stages in one person’s story. They can happen simultaneously to different people. Giving a city several voices avoids one emotional conclusion. The brightness of someone newly in love does not cancel another person’s grief.

Naming separation as a sensation

“Taste of Parting” moves the end of a relationship into a bodily sensation. Knowing that something has ended differs from experiencing it through a day. A taste can remain after swallowing. The title permits a reading in which separation does not finish on the date of the event.

Blue offers another entrance without requiring the colour to mean identical sadness to everyone. Putting sensation beside colour makes an elusive state more approachable than a plot summary. A day in the city after a separation may look different according to what lingers.

A response beside a voice

Taru’s title makes a promise to another person. The release introduction describes White through lovers brightened by their relationship, with MC Hangil’s rap supplying the other partner’s feelings. Its distinctive construction places a response next to the first voice.

A relationship affirmed aloud changes when the words do not remain a monologue. The recipient’s feelings enter the arrangement. Beside Kim’s song, this suggests a contrast between concentrating on a loss and distributing attention across two lovers. Colour becomes a marker for following those perspectives.

The city need not be reduced to a particular skyline or street photograph. Its initial condition is people living different relationships together. Blue and White preserve two emotional times passing through a shared space.
