SIS bring six songs closer — Shitamachi Tanabata 2026
After the rain cleared on Kappabashi Hondori, SIS faced an audience only a short distance away. Six songs, from VACATION to Ai no Battery, are revisited through photographs and event footage.

There was barely any difference in height between stage and audience. SIS’s performance at Shitamachi Tanabata on July 5, 2026, took place on Tokyo’s Kappabashi Hondori, where a listener’s expression could reach the performers immediately. After a four-song set in Yokohama the previous day, the group had six songs with which to build a slightly longer programme.

Waiting for a neighbourhood stage after the rain
The morning’s rain had stopped by the afternoon, a welcome change for people waiting at an uncovered outdoor stage. Before SIS, local participants performed a dance. The movement of people and the sound of applause, rather than elaborate equipment, shaped the atmosphere of the street.
The announced slot ran from 3:15 to 3:45 p.m. When the members appeared ahead of the start, they moved directly into rehearsal. They sang an extended portion of “Aoi Sangosho,” waving or smiling towards the audience between checks. Even the preparations took place in a space shared with the people watching.

Three bright opening songs, beginning with VACATION
The set opened with “VACATION.” As the lively song began, the waiting crowd moved into the rhythm of the performance. With the stage so low and close, it was easy to notice where the members were looking and how they responded.
Brief introductions and MC remarks led into “DING DONG Kudasai,” followed by “Aoi Sangosho.” The sequence of familiar melodies and movements was open to people simply walking through the festival too. Passers-by also stopped briefly to watch.

Two originals change the pace in the middle
After a short conversation came “DIVER” and “Michishirube.” The same pair had appeared together in Yokohama, but here they arrived after three bright opening numbers. A little more time gave the originals a different position within the programme.
“DIVER” brought choreography and movement into sharper focus; “Michishirube” offered time to follow voices and words. The group used familiar repertoire to draw people in, then presented its own songs within that shared space. The six-song sequence, rather than the popularity of any single number, revealed the shape of the performance SIS was building.

Ai no Battery, delivered to an audience within reach
“Ai no Battery” came last. On a small temporary stage, long walkways and elaborate equipment cannot carry the performance. Looking at listeners, keeping the rhythm and responding to reactions close at hand became more directly visible.
Applause and cheers continued after the song, and the members waved back. A separate clip preserves that final greeting. Closeness here meant more than the physical distance to the stage: noticing a response and answering it helped turn six songs into one shared occasion.
