There is more than one way back to “GLAMOROUS SKY.” Some listeners arrive through the film NANA; others through BON. Inoue’s performance on 2026 Korea–Japan King of Singers. Calling it a classic should be a beginning, leaving room to hear the people singing it now.

We place BON. Inoue’s broadcast solo beside the earlier Japanese television duet, Mika Nakashima’s original video, and the festival duet filmed by CROSSWAVE. The point is not to decide who replaces the original, but to follow what one song carries between stages.

The duet that came first on Japanese television

BON. Inoue and Manami Nagai also sang the song together on Japan’s Geneki Kaou: Utahime. The official clip is labelled episode 2, April 12, 2026. It supplies another broadcast record to place alongside Inoue’s Korea–Japan contest solo and the October festival duet.

Knowing that the same pair had performed the song before changes how we approach the festival footage. It can be heard beside an earlier duet rather than treated as a one-off pairing. Keeping the television performance and outdoor festival distinct lets each recording retain its own occasion.

A rushing song that still looks back

Released on August 31, 2005 under the name NANA starring MIKA NAKASHIMA, the song connects a character and a singer. Nakashima played Nana in the film; HYDE composed the music and manga creator Ai Yazawa wrote the lyrics. Its identity begins at that meeting of music and fiction.

Knowing the plot is not a condition of entry. The forward push of rock meets a feeling directed toward time already gone. As the chorus opens, longing seems to travel farther rather than disappear. That tension makes the song harder to reduce to an exhilarating high-note showcase.

What returning to the original offers

For someone who encountered a cover first, the original video offers a useful return. It restores the name and setting the familiar melody first carried. Hearing Nakashima sing under Nana’s name also leaves room to understand the song beyond a singer’s private feelings.

An original need not become a scorecard for every later performance. Singing the same melody does not mean reproducing the same character or voice. Returning after BON. Inoue’s broadcast invites a small question: did we remember the melody, the person delivering it, or the meeting of the two?

From one performer to a shared song

The field recording comes from a separate performance: BON. Inoue and Manami Nagai singing “GLAMOROUS SKY” at the Korea–Japan Festival on October 10, 2026. This live duet offers a counterpart to the broadcast solo that opens this review.

Rather than listen for who sings louder, consider what changes when two people share a song. A solo draws attention along one voice; a duet invites us to hear its relationship with another. The composition stays familiar while the unit of attention changes. That is a reason to place a broadcast clip beside a field recording.

A classic continues by being sung again

The song’s endurance deserves something more concrete than a count of years since release. A film song becomes a television performance, then an outdoor festival duet. These videos repeat a composition while preserving different encounters with it.

The karaoke numbers included here refer to the original recording’s artist credit. They are not dedicated entries for BON. Inoue’s broadcast arrangement or the festival duet. Listening, comparing and trying the song in one’s own voice can extend a review into a longer encounter. Returning to a familiar sky need not mean standing in the same place.
